Kevin and Steve- A D.C. Engagement

Kevin and Steve are another couple that I have known since my days at Elizabethtown College. We have kept in contact through social media (mostly twitter). One day, Kevin sent me this:

I am still so grateful for his confidence in me as a photographer, and of course I said yes to a wedding up in New York. It wasn't until earlier this year when I became their official wedding photographer!

Kevin and Steve cannot agree on when they officially met, but they truly became friends their freshman year at E-town. Kevin and his co-anchor were hosting the college's radio show, and they were struggling. Steve ran down to the studio to try to save the show. While he was there giving the co-anchor his number in case she needed more help, Kevin saved Steve's number his phone. Then called him and said, "Now, you have my number too!" They eventually began dating. Then four years after Steve saved the radio show, Kevin proposed to him while in Sea Isle City, New Jersey.

Kevin and Steve drove down from Pennsylvania for their engagement session. We started off in Georgetown, went to Yards Park, and ended near the Capitol. Right at the beginning of the session, we walked down under Whitehurst Freeway, and it started POURING.

Once the weather let up, we were able to get some amazing photos.

Here are a few of my favorites:

Kevin explains the shoes: "Steve has wanted a pair of the Nike Air Force 1s, Jones Beach edition for years. I found a new pair for his birthday last year and surprised him. Since we weren't on Long Island for the photo shoot, I thought it would be fun to have a shoe shot of the bottom since that's where we'll be in May 2014. "

Huge thank you to Cory for assisting and having great ideas.

Kevin and Steve- I truly cannot wait until your wedding in May 2014, and thank you for the support you both have given me throughout my time as a wedding photographer!

Martha and Eli- An Old Town Alexandria Engagement

Before Martha and Eli knew each other, they both joined the US Army in 2001. Eli started his career as a saxophone player in the US Army Band in DC, and Martha was a paratrooper/vocalist with the 82nd Airborne Division band in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Later, Martha moved to DC and joined The United States Army Band. They saw each other around, but never had the chance to sit down and talk. It wasn't until they were both performing at the same 4th of July concert on the National Mall when they really got to know each other. After rehearsal one day, Eli told his friend to invite Martha to the bar with them. Martha who usually always says no, agreed to meet them there. As Eli puts it, "I won her over with the good looks and boyish charm." This past Friday, I went out to Old Town Alexandria with Martha and Eli for their engagement session and was able to create some gorgeous photos while walking through the streets.

A Huge thank you to Mike for helping me out and being an awesome voice activated light stand and being my Sherpa.

Martha and Eli- I cannot wait for your wedding this Fall! Thank you for being so awesome to work with!
